A forehead lift, or browlift, will lift the muscles and skin to smooth the forehead, raise the upper eyelids and minimize frown lines. It is a plastic surgery procedure to improve the appearance of the facial region between the upper eyelids and the scalp, extending to the temples. The procedure improves low placement of the brows, and minimizes the appearance of lines and creases in the forehead
-
A browlift can give you a more alert and more youthful appearance.
-
Recent advances in plastic surgery have made, the forehead lift a relatively simple procedure with results that last from 5 to 10 years.
-
A browlift can be done alone or in conjunction with other procedures, such as facelift, eyelid surgery or nose reshaping (rhinoplasty).
-
Minimal scar techniques are utilized often incorporating an endoscope.
Who is a good candidate?
A browlift can minimize the visible signs of drooping eyebrows, "hooding" over the eyes, forehead furrows and frown lines that come with age. If you are bald or have a receding hairline, you may also be a good candidate.
How is the procedure performed?
Small incisions are placed behind the hairline. Repositioning and suspension of forehead tissue create a more youthful appearance by weakening those muscles that affect frown lines. Incisions are then closed with stitches or surgical clips.
Recovery Process
Post-operative instructions generally call for plenty of rest and limited movement in order to speed up the healing process and recovery time. Bandages are applied right after surgery to aid the healing process and to minimize movement. Initial healing may include some swelling, numbness, and discomfort that can be controlled with medication. An itchy scalp, particularly at the incision sites, is also common. Healing will continue for several weeks as swelling continues to dissipate and incision lines refine and fade. Continue to follow the instructions issued by your surgeon and be sure to inform your surgeon of any out of the ordinary side affects at your follow-up visits.
