Arm Lift: Brachioplasty

Posted on Apr 09, 2014 at

Are you struggling with loose skin and access fat underneath your arms? With an arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, Dr. Tahernia can remove this loose skin from the upper arm to create a more refined and toned look. Patients that have lost a massive amount of weight will usually require an arm lift due to the excess of skin left behind. For some people, fat pockets in the upper arms are due to genetics and will simply not go away with diet and exercise alone. Having loose hanging skin and an excess of fat can cause people to feel self conscious and limit a person’s clothing options.

Dr. Tahernia would be happy to meet with you to discuss your arm lift options and the factors that go into being a good surgical candidate. You can set up your consultation by calling our office at 310-614-9701, or request an appointment online.

Arm Lift Techniques:

As each patient has their own individual needs, Dr. Tahernia will customize your arm lift surgery to cater to your aesthetic goals for the procedure. A patient seeking an arm lift may undergo one or more of the below techniques used for a brachioplasty:

Arm Liposuction – For patients that have good elasticity in their skin, they may be able to have liposuction performed on their arms to remove the excess fat. With this procedure, Beverly Hills patients will see a great improvement, but not as much as they would if the skin was completely removed.

Mini Arm Lift – Patients are good candidate for this technique if the excess skin and fat they want to get rid of is located only in the upper part of the arm. This technique also involves less scarring because there is a smaller incision.

Elbow Lift – Less commonly, patients may also suffer from an excess of skin and fat directly above or below their elbow. Patients of this type can benefit from a combined arm and elbow lift while preserving their range of motion.

Elbow to Armpit Lift – Dr. Tahernia will make an incision from the elbow to the armpit to achieve improvement. In most cases, this procedure is combined with liposuction for optimal results.

Arm & Armpit Lifts – As people fluctuate in weight or as people age, the skin on the upper arm begins to sag. Due to lose in elasticity in the skin, the skin can hang low even from the armpits causing a decrease in confidence and limits in what to wear. Using a combined technique of an arm and armpit lift, Dr. Tahernia can get optimal results.
