Head

Cutis verticis gyrate (CVG), also referred to as brainy scalp or scalp furrowing, CVG is a rare medical condition whereby the scalp manifests as folds and furrows of thickened skin. The resemblance of a cerebriform or brain look pattern is distinctive in most cases.  The folds range in number from 2-10, and cannot be flattened with applied pressure.  They are soft and spongy in texture.  CVG is rare in the general population, with approximately 1 in 100,000 cases in men and 0.026 in 100,000 women.  Usually located around the central and back areas of the scalp, the condition may also involve the entire scalp.
